The Ilderton Youth Centre has even more fun to offer thanks to a generous donation of $2,500 from Middlesex Mutual Insurance’s Community Spirit Pledge.

Located at the Ilderton Arena, the youth centre offers drop-in and specialty recreational programs for young people ages 9 to 18. The Municipality of Middlesex Centre operates the centre and has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of London (BCG London) to run the programming.

The donation from Middlesex Mutual Insurance allowed for the purchase of new craft supplies, sports equipment, theatrical supplies, board games, and video games.

“We recognize the importance of youth participation in the community and leadership programs and believe the youth centre will provide the youth of Ilderton and surrounding area with a valuable resource,” said Brittany Sikesdi of Middlesex Mutual Insurance.

Launched in March of 2022, participation in the youth centre programs has been steadily growing.

“We’ve been pleased with the interest in the youth centre and the new recreational programs it has brought to youth in Ilderton and Middlesex Centre,” said Scott Mairs, Director of Community Services for Middlesex Centre. “This donation from Middlesex Mutual Insurance will help to expand the programs offered at the youth centre.”

“Our program is changing and growing based on what we hear from the young people at the youth centre,” said Carly Moir, Rural Youth Programs Coordinator for BGC London. “We work with youth to run programs that they are excited about, like our new DIY-Dinner during our drop-in sessions and various specialty programs like theatre, visual arts and gymnastics.”
