Ash De Cruz and Nancy Giffen, on behalf of the Komoka YMCA, provided an overview of their 2023 membership statistics and partnership update.

Overall, the Komoka YMCA branch had a successful year, with a significant growth in membership registrations and summer camp participation.

At the beginning of 2023, there were 736 members registered at the Komoka YMCA. By the end of 2023, there were 993 members – an increase of 257 members. It was also noted that the 2023 summer camp registration was 98% full. 

In Brief

During the meeting, Council also:

  • Endorsed new and updated municipal information technology policies. 
  • Received and endorsed the Transportation Master Plan in principle. There is now a 30-day public review period. Please see middlesexcentre.ca/tmp for details.
  • Appointed Deputy Mayor John Brennan as the Middlesex Centre representative to the Middlesex County Police Services Board for the remainder of Council Term. The development of the Middlesex County Police Services Board and implementation of the associated Community Safety and Policing Act Legislation will take effect on April 1, 2024.
  • Received the Ontario Clean Energy final report for information.
  • Received an update on the Delaware Hydro Reserve Fund and the Cash In Lieu of Parkland Reserve Fund.
  • Received Middlesex Centre’s customer service 2023 overview.
    • On average, Middlesex Centre received 1,441 calls per week, or just under 75,000 calls per year.
    • According to 2023 front desk customer service tracking, 65% of the calls were related to tax and water inquiries.
    • Residents were also offered the chance to provide feedback on Middlesex Centre’s customer service as part of the budget survey. Seventy-two percent of residents were satisfied with the municipality’s customer service, a slight increase from 2022.

The next regularly scheduled Middlesex Centre Council Meeting is set for Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. Please note that council meetings will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre for the duration of the municipal office renovation.
