April 6, 2009 - Update on Middlesex Centre Family Medicine Clinic
Almost one year after the announcement that a new clinic would be built, the sod has been turned on the Middlesex Centre Family Medicine Clinic facility. The architectural team at Tillmann Ruth Mocellin Inc. has completed the design of the Clinic and the firm of Bronnenco Construction will be commencing construction of the facility on April 7, 2009 with completion scheduled for December 2009.
In partnership with the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, the University of Western Ontario Schulich School Of Medicine and Dentistry and local doctors, the centre will function as both a teaching centre and health care facility. The Clinic will be staffed by experienced local family doctors supported by residents from the University of Western Ontario Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry practicing with the clinic for training purposes.
The $ 2,700,000 clinic, to be located adjacent to the existing Ilderton Library, will be a 13,000 sq. ft. one storey facility housing four family doctor teams which will provide area residents access to local health care. If you wish to view the proposed facility, drawings are displayed at the Ilderton Arena and the Municipal Office.
Design Layout of Family Doctor Teaching Clinic
In June 2008, the Municipality announced that funding had been received from the Province of Ontario to construct a Family Doctor Teaching Clinic in Middlesex Centre. The Clinic that is to be built in Heritage Park, will house four medical teams headed by local physicians and supported by residents from the University of Western Ontario Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Clinic is slated for occupancy in 2010.
At the September 3, 2008 meeting of Council, approval was given to retain the architectural firm of Tillmann Ruth Mocellin Inc. to design the facility and to manage its construction.
Since that time the Building Committee has met on a number of occasions with the Architect to move the Project forward. The architect has designed the layout of the building and is currently in the process of preparing construction drawing for tendering purposes which will be reviewed by representatives of the Building Committee.
